ANGELS, TIME, AND OTHER THINGS WITH WINGS

Each year, Violet Crown Players and DSYDT explore a theme that speaks to the heart of our shared human experience. This season, we turned our focus to “Humans Connection to Time and other intangibles.”

 Our exploration began in Berlin, August, 2025, diving deep into research, conversation, and creative discovery. What you see now is the culmination of that exploration…

Our offering comes from months of curiosity, collaboration, and reflection by performers as young as six years of age. We are a professional youth performance company. Please do not expect sequins or high kicks. We create true performances—several each year. We develop performance artists. We are rooted in tradition and guided by research in our vision for the future of our art.

 Our artistic director, Maria Antonieta [Toni]  Bravo has been widely recognized for her artistic contributions. She was named Best Choreographer by the Austin Chronicle’s “Best of Austin” for three consecutive years (1998–2000). In 2014, she received the B. Iden Payne Award for Outstanding Choreography for her work on EARTH, a collaboration with Bonnie Cullum at The VORTEX Repertory Theatre. Her community contributions have also been acknowledged through the Arts Community in Austin, Ms. Bravo was inducted into the Austin Arts Hall of Fame in recognition of her work with youth and dance artists of all ages, as well as her research in dance education and education through dance.
