Occult burlesque troupe Malum Malus celebrates the pagan holiday of Beltane at The VORTEX for three nights only: May 9-11, 2024. Created by Blaise Ricin, this conceptual, full-length show combines sultry burlesque with contemporary dance and witchy themes. Malum Malus (Latin for “bad apple”) portrays a chantry of witches gathered to tantalize the audience, who are guided through the evening by Agatha Trystie as master of ceremonies. 

In this third installment of Beltane, the chantry is dragged under the maypole by the Fae. Trapped in a hollow under the faery mound, it is all the witches can do to fend off the mischief of the nature spirits and to try to find a way out. Will they escape back into the sun or be servants of the fae queen for all eternity?

Malum Malus: Beltane features performers Blaise Ricin, Agatha Trystie, Sigh, Fig, Magpie, Mandy Mezcal, asYlem, Sunday Slaughter, and Dame Dynamite.

Blaise Ricin is a Green New Theatre Artist in Residence at The VORTEX for the 2023-2024 season.
