Open-call Auditions

The VORTEX announces open-call auditions seeking courageous artists of any color, race, age, or gender to participate in urgent, unashamed art for our 2024-25 Season. 

Global majority/BIPOC artists and non-binary and transgender artists are encouraged to audition. Artists selected to participate in the season will receive stipends for their artistic work. Paid crew and design positions are also available.

Preparation: 
Please prepare a one-minute contemporary monologue
You may also demonstrate juggling, circus skills, or gymnastics. 
Please bring 3 hard copies of your resume. Headshot optional.

The VORTEX’s 37th Season includes:
Funny, Like an Abortion, a rolling world premiere by Rachel Bublitz
Salvador Dali’s Naked Feast
The Mutt-Cracker (SWEET!), written and directed by Melissa McKnight
Rabbits, a world premiere play by Sarah Saltwick, directed by Chris Fontanes.
MotherTree, new dance theatre, conceived and directed by Bonnie Cullum,  Choreography by Toni Bravo and writing by Sarah Saltwick. 
Syntax Error: The Quickening of AI, new, devised work conceived and directed by Heather Barfield

All ticket sales are final. However, we can exchange your tickets for a different night or a different performance, for a $3 fee, depending on availability. We do not sell your private data.
