Curated and hosted by award-winning artist Zell Miller III, director of the smash hit, Hunger, and the writer/director of the critically-acclaimed triumph for social justice, Hands Up Hoodies Down. This interactive high-energy performance piece is highlights the beauty of hip-hop culture, through comedic vignettes, heart-felt monologues, lyrical M.C's, b-boy's, modern dancing, poetry, and singing. Featuring performances by Minds of a Different Kind, Da’Shade Moonbeam, K.A.N.N.K.A.S.S.O, Public Offenders, Sadé Jones, Kelene, Ebony Stewart (Writer/Performer Hunger) and many more. Since it began at The VORTEX in 2008, the Hip-Hop Theatre Explosion has presented some of the best new hip-hop poetry, dance, music, and theatre in Austin. You won’t want to miss the next incarnation of this amazing series that has launched the work of dozens of young artists and showcased the work of star performers.
