Awards "It is a work of art, as opposed to a mere vulgar spectacle, and that's the really weird thing about it." - Austin Chronicle Corn soup and cancer. Death by frying pan. A pregnant boy named Sodomy in the Corner.... Uh-oh! The Rubber Repertory is teaming up with The VORTEX to present the Austin premiere of Dan Basila's HOLES BEFORE BEDTIME. Set in a womb, but not just any old womb… the sort of place that feels more like a trailer park. Or a mental asylum. Or that sleazy carnival over by Highway 290. Most of the characters are babies, but some have beards. And one of them curses like a sailor. And everyone has sex. But only when they're not too busy singing and dancing. The Rubber Repertory invites you to remember a time when parental crotch was at eye level, and brace yourself for an evening that will turn family drama inside out, upside down, and flush it down the toilet. About the Rubber Repertory
Josh Meyer and Matt Hislope originally met in Lawrence, Kansas,
where they staged a musical feeding frenzy, a one-woman burlesque,
and invasions of public places with large-scale musical numbers.
Since relocating to Austin and forming The Rubber Repertory, they've
presented the award-winning Mister Z Loves Company and Still Born
in a Trunk and
taken two steps forward in their ongoing effort to stage the complete
works of Wallace Shawn. Their most recent show, At Home with Dick,
continues its extended run and will soon be turned into a feature
film
