VORTEX presents the world premiere of a new modern opera based on a 1921 short story by H.P. Lovecraft: The Music of Erica Zann. This dark tale from the void tackles contemporary themes of disconnection, addiction, and obsession, creating a dynamic medium for modern opera. Music and spectacle transport the audience toward the mystery of the unknowable chaos.
Pulp horror writer of the 20's and 30's whose circle of contemporaries included Robert E. Howard (Conan) and Robert Bloch (Psycho). Lovecraft is sometimes called the father of contemporary horror.
